Horses hearts are bigger than their brains whereas human brains are bigger than their hearts...the difference? Humans are lead by their heads and horse are lead by their bodies, how does this difference manifest itself?
Horses are big majestic vegetarian animals, they are preyed on by carnivores and in the wild rely on their survival instincts. So when a threat is around do the horses raise their heads and start thinking what their best line of approach is? Wander over to their fellow herd horses and discuss the next move? Horses would be extinct if this was their approach!
Horses rely on responding to sensations in their body, their massive heart provides a big electromagnetic field which makes them sensitive to energy around them. When the horse receives a new information it responds to the sensation in its body and then returns to what it was doing.
Humans on the other hand process information in the brain and then tend to react, they are not generally aware of what is occurring in their bodies. Often humans talk about gut instinct but how often do they respond to it? Interestingly the part of the brain that is responsible for instinct is the reptilian part of the brain, in humans this part of the brain has got smaller as the neo cortex (thinking) part of the brain has got bigger.
Whereas humans understand emotions as feelings that are attached to happenings, horses seem to understand emotions as being energy in motion (emotion). Horses allow the energy to move in their bodies and respond accordingly. Humans are not aware of the energy moving around their body, how trauma can cause energy to get locked in and cause stress on the body and mind.
By becoming more horse like humans recognise the sensations in their body, respond to them and learn. Who better to teach this than Chance and Shadow!
